Please also see my report on ethnic minority journalists in Iran who are being targetted for speaking up against the regime's persecution of Arab, Balochi and Kurdish ethnic groups: http://blogs.amnesty.org.uk/blogs_entry.asp?eid=1842

Daniel Brett : I have asked my local MP to pursue the issue with the Foreign Office.

Thanks for you support. Human rights abuses in Iran are rising dramatically and it is difficult to keep up with the situation. The British government is not helping due to its failure to put human rights at the forefront of its relations with Iran and the atrocious way in which it treats Iranian asylum seekers.

I'd like the Home Office to investigate the way in which the Iranian regime is abusing the British asylum system - using it to place agents within the country to infiltrate exiled opposition groups - as well as the mysterious way in which the Home Office files relating to failed asylum seekers are transferred to Tehran ahead of deportation. Additionally, the government should be condemned for denying asylum seekers essential medical assistence, including treatment for diabetes, and its dismissal of obvious torture marks as "self-inflicted". The current system is absolutely inhumane and it is atrocious that the likes of Arash Mohajerinejad and others are treated so appallingly by a government that is either indifferent to human rights or collaborating with Tehran.
